CVMFS repo mount and cache process detaches and when autofs tries to mount, it fails

Hi team,

We’re currently dealing with an issue where a CVMFS repository mount unexpectedly detaches. Based on our investigation, this happens when the repo mount process invokes the cache process, resulting in a cache process timeout.

Right now, we are relying on two temporary workarounds:

  • Rebooting the instance.

  • Killing the stalled cache process and retrying.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to identify the root cause of the timeout or figure out a permanent fix. Has anyone encountered this specific issue before? If so, do you have any recommendations for a permanent solution?

that does sound peculiar, but we’ll need a few more details. I’d suggest to run cvmfs_config bugreport on an instance with this issue and send the resulting tarball to cvmfs-devs@cern.ch
